Nigel and Adena Hecks started Hex Holdings in 1970 trading in the Leicestershire area. Over the next 15 years Hex expanded into Derbyshire, Nottinghamshire, Warwickshire and the East coast.

Through further aquisitions the company now covers Devon, Cornwall, Somerset and Avon, South Wales and East Anglia.

Hex Holdings is now one of the largest independent automotive refinish distributors in the UK, with over 200 staff and a turnover of more than £20 million. The company was the first refinish distributor in the UK to awarded BS EN ISO 9002.

In 1995 Hex were voted Motor Factor of the Year by Motor Trader Magazine for their rational business strategy and sustained growth.

The company is a founder member of the Trade Group, an organisation of independent distributors who have formed a corporate alliance to combine their considerable resources, developing new, innovative products and services for the industry
